.
A sign marks a summit was a self-guided trail which wandered the grid of Peekskill’s sidewalks, streets, longitude and latitude up to a local summit. From trailheads at both the Peekskill train station and Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art, markers attached to street signposts led pedestrian hikers on a theoretical mountain climb, ending at Summit Avenue. Interpretive panels pointed out features along the way, including sidewalk geology, flora and fauna; mountains related to streets on the trail; and other digressions from the found and imagined landscape.
